A few more questions about bus/train in Villefranche/Eze/Monaco

Recommended Posts

Thanks to those who have helped me try to put together a day on my own in Villefranche. I just have a few last questions:

1) Where can I find the bus schedule for Bus #100 from Villefranche to Eze bord de Mer? The website I found just says it leaves every 20 minutes. Is that basically the schedule, I just stand there and wait?

2) Where is the bus stop in Villefranche to wait for Bus #100 after I get off the tender?

3) Do I need to give the driver exact change for the bus fare? And where do I find out exactly how much the bus fare is?

4) When on the bus, is it obvious that I have reached Eze bord de Mer and I should get off the bus?

5) Do I get on Bus #83 up to Eze Village from the same stop I got off of Bus #100 from Villefranche?

Thanks again for any help you can provide.

Don't panic.

Off the tender and "upwards" to Octroi - the main crossraods in VF. It's either 15 minute walk or 40 depending on your state. Every 20 minutes is every 20 minutes and thats all you need to know except first and last bus. Print off the little map, or just look at one on the stop and memorise the name of the two stops before. The stops are printed on the bus stops so you'll know where to get off. Can't remember - but I think the stops might also be on little light board on the bus ie "Next stop is ....." but I don't take sufficient notice.

The fare I think is flat fare on this route now - for some reason i think it's 2 euros something. I think it's less than 3 euros but exact fare isn't a problem. Just ask for two tickets in French - that's all I ask. "Deux s'il vous plait" will do fine.

This should give you the times from Nice to Monaco (I've put the L'Octroi stop in...you just need to put the correct date in.) http://www.lignedazur.com/horaires_ligne/index.asp?sens=1&date=25%2F04%2F2006&heure=20&pa_id=11454&rub_code=6&thm_id=539&gpl_id=0&lign_id=1092&laction=result&from=

The stop is near the TI office (on the same side of the street as the TI if you are heading towards Monaco (to go to Nice, you would wait on the other side of the street.)

I don't remember the exact fare, but as UKI said, request 'deux' and have some small bills or change with you - they don't like to make change for large bills.

Keep a close eye out as you get to Eze - I think the Eze Gare stop is first, then Eze bord du Mer - it will just be a glass shelter with a bench and a sign. Bus #83 leaves from the same stop.

We did Eze Bord Du Mer - both for getting off #100 and boarding #83. But I think Eze Gare is just one stop prior and both buses go there. The street runs along the coast - the water is to your right. I think we probably saw Eze Gare stop and got off at the next one, Eze bord Du Mer.

Just a thought, but if you are signing numbers with your fingers in Europe, your thumb counts as 1. So, if you ask the bus driver for two tickets with a show of fingers, here we would use a "peace sign" but in Europe, you show your thumb and index finger. For just one, show your thumb only. Something I read in Rick Steves:)

Jstducky - I had another look at the timetables on the link I gave you above & see that there are three stops in Eze that both bus #100 and #83 stop at: Eze David, Eze Cap Roux and Eze Gare SNCF (in that order as you go towards Monaco from Villefranche.) I think we must have gotten off at Eze Cap Roux (after seeing the Eze David stop).

Have you been able to access the timetables for both #83 and #100 on the site above:

Once you are on it, click on the Union Jack for English, then on Timetables, then on "Secteur Cap Et Corniche", then on either Route #83, or #100. Highlight the direction that you are going. The list of stops is shown in the bottom panel where it says "select".

Susan ...

you are a blessing in disguise! I had accessed this website before in the past from some other posts you had made, but I didn't see the area where you could look at the stops in order for the direction you are going. Now with your help I'm able to see it!

thanks so much! this is just what I needed!

Jstducky - thanks & glad to be of help! Having the info from that website takes a lot of the guesswork out of travelling by bus - there's still some, but everything worked out fine for us, so I'm sure you'll do OK as well:)

I have a question too?? We are ending our tour in Monte Carlo to do a little gambling - How do we get from the casinos back to dock/pier in Villefranche?

We will have lots of time but do not want any real long walks.

Would it be better to just take a taxi I saw the cost is 45 euros?

Thanks,

Francine
