Past Guest Parties?

We just booked our second Carnival cruise and are wondering what the past guest parties are? How do you get invited to them - and what are they? Thanks:)

They are held on 5 day and longer cruises. Your invitation should arrive by the 2nd/3rd day. It's about 45-60 minutes of free cocktails and appetizers (you can order what you want if what you like is not on the tray)... the capt speaks, the CD speaks, etc.
