Hot Chocolate?

Glad you like the board--I'm an ADDICT already!!!!!

Yes, they do serve hot chocolate, but on most lines you have to pay for it. Usually, I just pay for what I want, but on this occassion, I'll be bringing some packs with me & then just getting hot water.......

I'm not positive if Radiance of the Seas has you pay or not--perhaps someone else can answer?

Yes, you do pay for hot chocolate on the Radiance :(

In that case, it's the same as the other lines. Since I'm doing a land tour previous to the cruise, I'll already have my packets of hot chocolate--so, I'll be using my leftovers on this portion.

If the Radiance has a similar set-up to the Star, then they'd serve it in the coffee bar (maybe it's also the Java Cafe as well?) in the main atrium. Also, the 24-hour cafe shouldn't be that far away, in case you'd want to get another type of drink that isn't caffeine-based.

IIRC, it was around $2.50 or so for one. As someone who isn't the biggest coffee fan (I'd rather have the hot chocolate, too), maybe the bring-your-own isn't such a bad idea.

Since I'm not a coffee drinker I always order hot chocolate after my meals and I have never been charged. Also, hot chocolate is usually available for breakfast. I hope that is the case on the Serenade this spring!

I normally got hot tea or hot coco on the cruise in the cafateria and it never cost anything. First time to Alaska on the Nor. Star. So is it because it is an Alaska cruise? And if they do charge, is the hot water in the caf. Thanks everyone.

In Alaska, there's a charge for Hot Chocolate. It's free in the dining room. It's free in the carribbean. Yes, there's baskets. But no baskets of Hot Chocolate in Alaska. It's another way for the cruise lines to make a few bucks. So adjust, throw a few packets in the suitcase, & save a few bucks.
