Any word on Istanbul?

Recommended Posts

I have called RSSC several times in recent weeks. They say everything is still a go. The fact that the cruise ends in Athens a few days before the Olympics begin doesn't thrill me either. Athens airport never gave me much comfort with regards to security. I guess we'll go but we'll keep a low profile.

I just booked air for Istanbul yesterday (for DABS) and all the planes were full when I tried using Star Alliance carriers. Finally had to book Delta in Business Class. So things seem to be strong for Istanbul in terms of incoming tourists. I booked my air through Radisson just in case there is a change of ports. For leaving Athens, I thought it would be a cinch, since it is before the people even get there for the Olympics, but I have to take 3 different flights to get back home.

We leave JFK on Friday night, Delta business class. We're spending Saturday and Sunday in Istanbul. We've never been there. We'll be cautious, but we're excited. Anyone else there that weekend?
