We stayed in a suite last year on a Carnival ship and we had priority check in which was very cool, no lines.

Yes, you have VIP checkin as a perk.

All the Penthouses are boarded first.

Do the early checkin at the pier, then go wait in the VIP area upstairs. You'll be led to the inside checkin area and then you'll only have to pick up your key card from the Concierge (Claudio) and board the ship.
