Which Company do I choose?

Which company do I choose for cave tubing and zip line? There seems to be so many choices. What I am looking for is the company that offers the most caves and the most zip lines. I have heard some companies only go through 1 cave while others do more and the same with the zip line. Does anyone know which company has the best package? Thanks!!

Melismass1,

After doing a lot of research, we've decided to book the cave tubing with Yhonny thru cave-tubing.com He seems to get a lot of very positive feedback, plus the $45/person is about half of the $85 the ship charges. Plus, you don't even have to pay in advance.

BTW, we'll be with you on the Miracle on 9/10/06.

One of the guides at cave-tubing.com is the brother of the second-in-command at Major Tom's outfit, so when the Major Tom guy needed to wait for so slow debarkers from the May 7 Miracle, he sent us with the cave-tubing bus. The independents are all very friendly and cooperative and, frankly, related to each other.

We booked with Major Tom at $53/head. cave-tubing.com is $45/head when you have 4 or more in the group. If you don't, it's more than Major Tom, but I forget by how much. Unless the weather is lousy and people decide at the last minute not to go or the ship is all geriatric, you're going to have more than 4 going, so cave-tubing is likely going to be the cheapest bet.

However ................. cave-tubing.com gives you the democratic option of stopping at a local eatery [do it; it's interesting] where you get a lunch for $5 and complimentary lime-ade, but have to pay $2 for a Belikan or $1 for a pop. With Major Tom the lunch is included with whatever you want to drink. Ergo, it's the same effective price.

And Major Tom has smaller groups riding in a van, while cave-tubing is in a 1960s-era US school bus that rattles and shakes, even on pavement.

We met Tom [forget his last name right now] and he's very nice, and on the day we were there he was running interference for some of the other independents who weren't showing up to meet their groups. The cave-tubing folks were all very nice, if slighty frat-boyish. They stopped the bus to try to coax a very attractive mayan hitchhiker girl to riding back to town with us. She turned them down. And they insisted on riding round and round and round the traffic circles at speeds an American teenager would get grounded for doing.

Either way it's about the same: friendlier and half the price with twice the caves of Carnival.

Thanks everyone for your detailed replies. I will definately do my research. Can anyone give me a list of all of the tour companies that offer both cave tubing and zip line so that I can be sure to research them all? Thanks!

Jay and Bobbi, Im looking forward to cruising with you!

You will have the best time with Yhonny and his crew! I know it was the highlight our our trip to Belize. Be ready for your cheeks to hurt from laughing all the time!

Just got back this morning from 7 days on the Carnival Miracle. Booked our cave tubing through cave-tubing.com with Yhony - the only way to go!

When you get off the tender, the locals swarm you - this is a POOR country and they are all over you. As soon as I mentioned "I am looking for Yhony", they back off quickly! Yhony meets you at the meeting spot and will have your name on a sign to show you that you got the right guy.

We did more for less money than booking through the cruise lines. In fact, we went through 2 caves vs. the cruise line's one and we were guided the entire way. Passed a lot of cruise ship folks (including some dining friends) who were all alone in the caves w/o cruise line's guides.

Afterwards, they take you to lunch at a local restaurant - great place!

You truely get the full Belize experience. The guides are funny, helpful, and cool to deal with. We paid $45.00 (lunch was additional $5.00) and had a blast. Friends went through Carnival and paid almost twice the price and did not have as much fun or see as much of the country as we did.

You pay at the end of the day in cash and they take you right back to the port in plenty of time before the last tender. The cruise lines will tell you not to book with anyone but them and will try to scare you into thinking you will miss the ship or that you can't get off the ship early when all of "their" excursions go. Nonsense - save you $$ and go with these guys.

Ok! I'm excited to come here and report on my experience. I also want to thank Cruise Critic for allowing cruisers like myself to come here and find valuable information on cruises and tours.

I recently got back from a cruise on Carnival Valor (January) and while in Belize I did Cave tubing and zip line. It is the ultimate tour I think Belize have to offer and besides its fun and exhilerating. I did my tour with b e l i z e s h o r e x . c o m. And I looked them up right on the internet.

It was a group of eight of us that went with the tour. When we go to the dock our guide was right there at the dock with our name on a sign board and that made it easy to find them. He introduced himself to us (Rudy was his name) a nice guy, then we were escorted to our air conditioned bus, a blessing that was with the sun that was blazing. I can't even tell you how long the ride was because Rudy intertained us all the way with stories and different information about Belize (very informative I tell you).

We did the zip line first, you get breif intro about safety precaution and what to do then its up you go. Oh my! to be hanging over those lush green forest and seeing different animals and birds, what a rush. I feel like I was on top of the world. After my heart settled down a bit I was informed that next we walk through the forest to do the cave tubing. If you are a nature fanatic like I am, you'll look forward to that. When we arrive at the water, it was a blessing to be in the cool clear water. We glided along the river and it led us straight into a big open cave. It was magnificent with all the history that went with it, about Mayes and thier ways of living and Rudy did fail to intrigue us his stories about the Mayas and the caves. I felt like I was back in their era, it was so weird to be taken back to days when man lived without modern technology like us.

After the tour was over, we were all given a plate of Belize sweet fruits like papaya, watermelon, orange, pinapple are some of the few I can remember. We were also fed with some delicious local bar-b-que chicken and again fresh juice (I can still remember the refreshing taste).

After all this we were given the sad news that it was time to head back. We got back to the dock with ample time to spare to walk around and shop and we boutght nice stuff at the N A Y A P A N gift shop in the village and got discount too.

I get a rush all over agian just thinking about it. If you want a good time you have to try them, you'll never regret it. I can't wait until my next cruise, Carnival here I come again baby!;)

I was in Belize about couple weels ago and found out about ******* whild surfing the web. There was a lot of company out there in Belize offering the same thing and all of them made it so difficult for me to choose, but I choose ******* becuause when you go to their webpage http://www.***************** they have a chat box that you can actually go to and talk to someone. I like to be very careful and even though the other companies' page looks good on the web, you don't know what to really expect until you get to Belize and take the tour. Meanwhile with *******, I got a feel of what my tour would've been like even before I went on my cruise. The operator was so helpful and kind, she made me look forward to my trip.

And when I got to Belize to take my tour it was just as I had expected and even better. The tour guide Rudy was very polite and courteous he gave us a lot of information about Belize and its history. The good thing I like most about ******* is that they are situated right int he village where you get of the boat and they own their own gift shop too where you can pick up your souvenirs and most importantly thier transportation is not those big clumsy school buts, its nice size bus that has reclining seats, AC and the PA system so you don't miss a thing when the guide is talking if you're at the back of the bus.

******* is cheap, reliable, efficient and is worth your vacation time!

Way to go *******
