Cruise ship to Atlantis

These boards are fabulous for getting ideas & information. So glad I found you? We're going on Carnival Miracle to Bahamas in August & DD wants to see Atlantis hotel. How do you get from the cruise ship to Atlantis hotel? How long is the trip & cost? Is it better to rent a car for the day, and if so, are there car agencies at the pier?

For a more scenic trip, take the ferry boat from the dock just out side the cuirse dock. (they will be lined up). It cost's $3pp, and you get a historic tour of the harbour and view of Paradise Island as you cross. It's a great way to get a little more for your time and $$$.

From the Dock on Paradise Island, it's just a 5 minute walk to Atlantis, you can even stroll past the multimillion $$$$ boats in the marina on your way to the entrance. (you'll miss all that with a cab ride).

Ferries run every 30 minutes 9-5 daily.

Suzi, Grand Bahama Island is a separate island from Nassau. Atlantis is on Paradise Island which is part of Nassau. Maybe you could take a helicopter, if you have alot of time. But you should probably look for something to do on Grand Bahama. I put it in a google search and lots came up!

The water taxi is a lot of fun and at 3.00 is the cheapest way to go. It is a very short walk to Atlantis, but it is mostly uphill, so if you have anyone who has trouble walking at all, you may want to atke a cab.

Also, you can walk around the shops and restaurants at atlantis, but if you want to see the dig or use the facilities, you must be either a guest of the hotel, or a guest of the comfort Suites across the street.

The shore tour offered through the ship will get you in to see the "dig", but you still cannnot use any of the facitlities.
