bball4 Posted May 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2006 Please advise on cruising on the Ecstasy. There will be 12 of us ages 78 to 9 and everything in between (two teenagers and several 40+).
Curt Jerome Wild Posted May 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2006 Hey bball4! First of all welcome to Cruise Critic. Ecstasy is a great ship, it's in my favorite size/class (Fantasy Class) of the Carnival ships (not too big, not too small). First of all do a search on Ecstasy, there are a lot of reviews and information on these boards. And read, read, read those. Then, ask some more specific questions, and lots of people here can answer them. Again, welcome. CJW
GinnyJ Posted May 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2006 Like curt said, do a search on the Ecstasy. - click on the little blue box on the Carnival page that says, " Search this Forum". Our family ( 6 of us) are sailing in Sept. We are planning on parking at ez cruise parking in Galveston ($35). We'll get to the ship around 10:30 - 11am. In Progresso, we will go to Corona Beach - right off the pier In Coz., Paradise Beach looks like alot of fun and they offer a snorkel tour. Go to the "Ports of Call" board to see what looks like fun for your group! When is your cruise?
Stircrzy Posted May 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 22, 2006 I love the Ecstasy! I leave on my 4th trip on her on Thursday. We've had family groups in your same age range and everyone had a great time...so much so that they've turned it into a yearly affair, and it keeps getting bigger and bigger groups of us. EZ Cruise Parking has served us well for 7 cruises, too!
petro772 Posted May 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2006 Firsrt-time cruisers will try out the Ecstasy in July: DW, DD and myself. We've learned a LOT from these boards! For example, O.K. to bring some soft drinks on board, no jeans in dining room, fountain card is worthwhile, don't save chairs by the pool for very long, collapsible cooler comes in handy, get a balcony (cat 12 we got), EZCruise parking at Galveston is set, self-debarkation is hectic (ALL debarkation is hectic?), pizza and reubens are GREAT, your photo is taken constantly but you don't have to buy any, and ask the room steward for everything. We have bungee cord, ziploc bags, power strip, Dramamine/Bodine/wrist bracelets, mini packs of M and Ms, and 50 other things! Finally, we remember that someone/something will be nasty, but we won't let it affect our having a GREAT time! (P.S. We watch the harbor cam, too!) cruizinwoman's man Posted May 24, 2006 #16 Share Posted May 24, 2006 DW and I cruised on the Ecstasy her first trip out of dry dock in April and loved it. Here is a link to pictures we took that week. Have fun!! http://community.webshots.com/album/549471450bsEEcH
SMJUGS Posted May 25, 2006 #17 Share Posted May 25, 2006 The pictures from cruzinwoman's man were great!!! And it gave me a much clearer idea of what to expect! One quick question... were there hairdryers in each room??? And if so, was it permanently placed in the bathroom or could it be moved to another plug? Sure would save a little space when packing if I didn't have to take one!! There are a group of 6 best friend gals going in June.....
mgrapner Posted May 25, 2006 #18 Share Posted May 25, 2006 SMJUGS No hair dryers in our cabin..just back a couple of weeks ago. There might be in suites but in the "regular" cabins...nothing. Have a great time!
hdawson Posted May 25, 2006 #19 Share Posted May 25, 2006 As others have said, check out the Ports of Call board here on CC. For planning purposes when porting in Progreso, this is another great planning tool. http://www.yucatantoday.com Progreso is alot different from most other ports but offers many excellent options. LMPego Posted May 25, 2006 #20 Share Posted May 25, 2006 We're thinking of the September 23rd Ecstasy sailing also. Never been to Mexico and we'll need a "quickie" to hold us until Alaska next summer. Is the Ecstasy similar to the Elation? How long is the transfer from Houston International to Galveston? reipan Posted May 27, 2006 #21 Share Posted May 27, 2006 Cruizinwoman'sman: The pictures are fantastic! Thanks fo much! We are thinking about Ecstasy October 7. We've done most of our cruises in September, tired of stressing about Hurricanes, so we are looking at October. We live about 45 minutes from Galveston so this is great! Thanks again!:D

Line up and be heard. I'm a little worried about the whole single dad thing on a cruise? What do ya'll think?
bluejeans Posted May 29, 2006 #25 Share Posted May 29, 2006 You will have better luck going over to the roll call board for your date of sail. You can find out who is going and ages of their children, if any.:D
