villager Posted May 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2006 I've read about senior discounts for transportation & some attractions in England. Does anyone know if they are available to non residents?? Thanks!
Kindlychap Posted May 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2006 It is far too general a question to answer. You certainly would qualify for a Senior Citizen rate on the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway. You certainly would not qualify for a Freedom pass for London Transport. In other words, you need to be specific about precisely which attraction or facility you are looking at before you can get an answer. But certainly, in many cases you will get such a discount. Norfolk Brit Posted May 24, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2006 For attractions you will often get a discount (usually only about 1 or 2GBP). No one has ever asked for any evidence of my mother's qualification for this, but it may be worth having your passport with you. The previous poster is spot on about travel; you need a senior citizens card issued (and in some areas charged for) over here to UK residents. villager Posted May 25, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted May 25, 2006 Thanks for the info. The exchange rate being what it is, every little bit helps. We'll make sure we have our passports on us. Tish

Tish According to the pundits over here, the pound is due to strengthen yet further against the dollar by the end of the summer; may be worth buying them now?
