dream2much Posted June 27, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 27, 2004 Is the snorkeling any good at Blue Lagoon? What about Paradise Island or Cable Beach? Looking for a relaxing day of swimming and snorkeling.

sdscreenwriter Posted June 27, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 27, 2004 If you don't want to go the excursion route, there is a nice beach between the Atlantis hotel and the other hotel next to it (can't remember the name). The water is that amazing shade of blue and there is a large swimming area right there. The snorkeling isn't great, but it was decent; we did see some neat fish and schools of squid right there near the shore. There are also companies right there that rent jet skis and other beach toys if you want to do that as well. The beach really wasn't that crowded at all either, and this was a day when there were 6 cruise ships in port because we were all being rerouted due to hurricane Isabel. So if you're looking for a nice relaxing day where you can play it by ear, this would be a good spot for it. dream2much Posted June 27, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted June 27, 2004 Did you taxi there? Is there a fee to use this beach? Is bar service available?
sdscreenwriter Posted July 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 5, 2004 Actually from the port area, we caught a water taxi over to Paradise Island. From there you walk over to the Atlantis area. It is not a huge long walk (maybe 1/4 mi. if I remember right), but it's pretty hot, so be prepared, or just take a taxi. The beach was free at that time. This was about 2 years ago. Can't remember if there was bar service available there. I don't think so, but with all the ways people try to make money off the tourists, I would think there should be.
