Night in Venice Ball QM2

Does anyone hear an annoying buzzing noise coming from over there?

Karie,

Who is glad she can recognize the true value of most people, and that they don't change or become less attractive to people of class and quality upbringing, just because they get older, less supple, fatter (or skinner) or less shapely (or more shapely, depending on what shape we are talking about!)

Karie- as ever I agree! It's when they become obsessed with soft porn, spanking etc that they become very unattractive- I wish Carruthers' nanny had treated him differently as a child- we wouldn't then have to discuss his fetishes which are lasting too long- he must be well in his dotage by now!

Or to quote the eminent wordsmith Dan Quayle "What a terrible thing it is to lose one's mind, or not to have one at all" (His attempt at the NAACP's "A mind is a terrible thing to waste" logo).

To change the subject completely, back to the boat!

Where do you go to discover the "themes" for the various evenings? I've look at the website for our jaunt on Aug 27th, but haven't found anything.

Blacksmith,

You should be receiving your Registration Package from Cunard. This details the night's dress and also ball's that will be held. I don't think it gives you specific nights for the events but it does tell you how many formal, informal, casual and ball themes.

We leave earlier in August and the Ascot Ball and the Black & White Ball are being held on our crossing. I think the Registration Package is the only place this information is detailed but I could be wrong.

I so agree that Jonquil and his stable mates need to be fed to the hounds!

I know that you are talking about the QM and not the QE, but in the case of the QE information is not provided until the evening before the ball (in the daily programme). Such events are quite easy to miss and missing one would not spoil a trip - I only noticed them on my last trip after comments were made about themed balls on these boards. Are they much more of an event on the QM? Is it possible to miss one and not realise that it's on?

Not quite, Madam Heywood. Jonquil is in his late 50s and is built like a bull. I know for a fact that he wouldn't require ***** to put some colour in your cheeks. As for fetishes, his only loves are his stable of hunters and a couple of his stable girls - in that order. Recently his international fame has spread across the globe and even GOOGLE has him in their search-engine! His mother, the late Lady Georgina, would have been rather proud of him. And yes, he did have a nanny - I remember her quite well when we were at Prep School together. What on earth all this has got to do with a Night in Venice Ball I have no idea. He is, however, coming on a cruise towards the end of the year when 14 members of the Hunt (some sadly encumbered by wives) will be enjoying the delights of QM2. I have suggested that he sign autographs for you people in the entrance to the Commodore Club. But beware, he is allergic to jeans"

Uh, Foxy, you wouldn't be willing to share with us which cruise later this year the, dare I say rather unsavory Jonquil and his cohorts have chosen? I fear fair warning is due the rest of us who will undoubtably find a rowboat in preference to being subjected to the least likely encounter with this group. In short, and I mean this most offensively, Jonquil has become a boor...and a bore...bye bye Jonquil.....time to go. Cheers, Penny

I'm sure that the legendary Jonquil (being of assumed proper upbringing) would agree, that all those with the matched "XX" chromosomes (and perhaps even those who may have wished they had) should be treated as ladies until such time as they prove otherwise.

I have always believed, and always will, that Ladies are not defined by Jeans, Genes or Bank accounts. Rather, it is the metal of their character, the depth of their tenderness, and the strength of their morality that defines a woman as being a lady. All and all, much the same sort of thing that separates men from gentlemen

To my limited American mind, I've only seen ladies among the women on this message board.

Now, back to the Boat!

Has anyone stayed in 11121 or 11119? We're solid for the 8/27 western TA, and would love to hear more about these cabins

Thank you.

"Dear Penny Patwell, In fairness to Cunard it would not be fair to announce our forthcoming cruise just yet in case Cunard take no further bookings. A little nearer the time, yes, - then it will be too late for you all to cancel.

Seriously, Jonty's just a gentle giant. And some of the other huntsmen are encumbered by their wives so there should not be too much mayhem. And they've promised not to bring the hounds. What more can you ask? - we've all got to do our bit to cement Anglo-American relations. And I'm sure Carnival will be pleased with the amazing alcohol sales emanating from the Commodore Club!" The increased revenue may enable that nice Mr Bush to lower your taxes"

Hi blacksmithcrm...There is a photo of the view from inside cabin 11040 on our roll call. One of our member posted it for me as we are in 11059 and our friends in 11038, right next door. At least it will give you a sense of what waking up in the morning will be. I'll post the link to it...then just scroll down the page and you'll see it. Since virtually all the Deck 11 cabins are the same I don't expect any differences. Cheers, Penny
