cindyjay Posted May 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2006 We will be there for a short day and want to do some snorkeling, not going on a ships excursion. Are taxis plentiful and inexpensive or would you recommend renting a car? thanks! Cindy
Lily14 Posted June 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2006 I will be in Bonaire in November and would love to hear some comments on this question. Anyone out there who can provide some guidance?
DiveCruiser Posted July 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2006 Most Taxis are expensive. Contact NettyCar rental we have used her since 1992. Prices from $29 a day. Bob
CaliforniaAC Posted October 13, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2006 We rented thru Inter Island Car Rental, which is a Hertz Car Rental before. We were very happy with them. We have contacted them to rent a car when we stop in Bonaire in February. Here is the link: http://www.interislandcarrental.com/index.html One of the things we really liked was that they have an office in the Divi Flamingo Resort, and they have the cars there. The resort is next to the pier, and we were on our way in minutes. If you contact them via e-mail, they reply promptly. Remember, if you stop anywhere, leave nothing in your car. We use a dry bag for snorkeling. We felt very very safe in Bonaire, it was one of the highlights of that cruise, it's just "an ounce of prevention" type of advice. Iceberg2 Posted January 26, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 26, 2007 Never before have we every had such a terrible tour with a taxidriver. He spoke enough english to tell us what we would see. Once we climbed in, he had a buddy join in the back, not knowing that he was the interpretor. They pointed out each bank, grocery store, school, any type of building. We went to see the Flamingos and at best were binocular distance away, ended up at a monument where the driver took off to have a leak behind the bushes. He asked me if I like the tour and told him NO. So make sure that your driver speaks English and have an idea before that you will be seeing something of interest. CaribbeanCrazy Posted January 30, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 30, 2007 You just convinced me to rent a car! DH and I would like to snorkel and tour the island. We couldn't decide between renting a car or snorkeling near the dock...then taking a 2-3 tour of the island. I was just about to ask if there are tour guides or taxi drivers waiting when we disembark....but I saw your message and decide to read it before I post my question. Your experience is exactly what we want to avoid. Thanks for the heads up:) CaribbeanCrazy
