We want to rent a jeep

has anyone ever rented a jeep/car on Grand Cayman? We were going to do the jeep tour but found out we would have to share our jeep since there is only 2 of us, and we didn't want to do that. Anyways we wouldn't mind going out on our own but does anyone know if the car rental places are close to docking area and if this is a possiblity. We dock from 7-4pm. Thanks for any ideas!

We rented a Jeep through Avis and it was great. You are picked up very close to the tender pier, (at a local gift shop...it's all in the directions from Avis), and they take you out to the airport to pick up the Jeep. We drove to Rum Point, got there quite early and had the place to ourselves until we left around 1:00. Dropped the Jeep at the airport and they took us back to the pier so we had time to shop. We'd do it again. It's very easy to navigate, very few roads! The Jeeps have the steering wheel on the "right" side, but remember to drive on the "wrong" side! No problems.

Thank you for all your replies. We've decided to rent a PT Cruiser from Avis and sent in the reservation form online last night but haven't heard back from them. Do you know how long it will take to hear back from them? Just want to make sure it went through and if we can't get the cruiser we want to try for a jeep. Thanks again!

Enjoy your day in GC. It's a great island to get out and explore. :)
