cave tubing for kids

You will have a BLAST!

1. Digital Camera:

I would not bring a digital camera. The only items I brought with me were my hip-pack and an epi-pen. I had the epi-pen in a zip-lock back inside of my hip-pack and it still got wet. I don't know if it wasn't closed properly or not...but, I would definitely bring a waterproof camera.

2. Passports:

Some ports you have to have an ID and your s/s card to get on/off the ship. If I remember correctly, Belize required an ID. So, you don't have to have a passport, but you do have to have a photo ID and s/s card.

3. Time

We were finished with our tour, ate lunch and were back at the ship by about 3:15, I believe. I am not positive about the time, but I am positive that we had PLENTY of time before the ship was scheduled to leave.

4. Tender Rides:

There was a little confusion on the ship about getting tickets for tender rides and things of that nature...but, we figured things out and were off the ship by 9:10 and were at the terminal around 9:45. The ride to the terminal was not bad, but the ride back to the ship was a little rough and very hot!

Feel free to ask questions...I love to relive it in my mind!!:D

Since they haven't made an underwater digital . . . yet! Go disposable.

Funny you say that! Today, I actually - for the first time - saw a waterproof digital camera for sale on HSN.com. It is manufactured by PENTAX. It was actually for sale for about $299. It had one "customer review and she gave it a wonderful review with 5 stars...

I was on Glory along with JVAJZP and did cave-tubing.com also but not with their group. There were 2 busloads. Yes, there was confusion about the tenders. If you were taking a Carnival excursion you met at 8 and got on the tenders. Everyone else was supposed to be in line at 9 for tender tickets. I got in line at 8 just to make sure I could get the first tender. About 830, someone from carnival came up and said there was room on the tenders and we could go get on them. So we were at the port before 9. Yhony didn't expect us so early so our guide (Richard) took our family (wife, son (10) and I) and another family of 5 on a 30 minute tour of Belize City and then back to the port where we picked up another 2 families. All told, there were 4 families with a total of 17 people on our bus and we had 4 guides.

Thus, when we got to the river, there was a guide for each family. Like JVAJZP said, the guides did all the work. You will get wet. But the main reason you get wet (other than your butt) is the splashing from the guides and other people. My digital camera was fine in the waterproof bag I had. To get off the ship you need your S&S card and photo id. We felt real safe leaving our belongings on the bus. We also stopped at Cheers for lunch. I think they take all their tours there. It was majority rules because 1 family didn't want to stop but the other 3 did. The last tender back was at 4:30 and I think we were back at the port before 3. They will get you back in time so don't worry. Richard had even asked how many of us had booked because of cruisecritic. So they know its to their advantage to make everything as great as possible because we'll write a bad review otherwise and their goes their business. Richard had even said if we got back late they would drive us to Costa Maya.

Just make sure you bring bug spray and have fun. You'll have a great time and make all those on the ship who do Carnival's cave tubing jealous.
