Carnival out of Charleston

Carnival Victory sails out of Charleston twice a year for a 5-day Bahamma trip. Scheduled cruises are: 10-15-06, 5-28-07, 10-16-07. See the reviews here on Cruise Critic for the Victory.

I live in NC and was so hoping after the completion of the new bridge more cruises would start scheduling to leave out of Charleston ... no such luck yet.

It has been a while, five years ago, I sailed on the Victory out of Charleston. The ship was great. Very smooth sailing, except for one night. It did not bother us though. Sailing from Charleston the ocean can be a little more rough because you do not have the protection of the islands to break up the waves. If you get seasick easily, try to get a room midship.

Since this ship is only there twice a year, it will fill up fast. Make sure you book as soon as possible if you want a specific room.

Embarkation/Debarkation was not too bad. We parked in a parking garage, and they had shuttles for us to get to the peir.

As far as the itenery, I really liked Nassau. You can walk right off the ship into town. Freeport, on the other hand, I did not care for. You have to take a taxi to go anywhere. I would suggest staying on the ship, spend the day at the beach. We went in May, and I thought the water was cold. I guess I was expecting it to be warmer at that time of the year.
