Anyone Done The Rafting?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Looking for some help. Only 45 days to go to Legend. We are planning on doing the white water rafting trip. Has anyone tried this before and if so, could you let me have your thoughts? Also, the friends we are meeting aboard went on a 4 day cruise and said that the Legend looked a bit tired, especially the mini-golf course. We're not overly-worried about the age of the ship or a dodgy drawer or two in the suite, but we love a round of golf before breakfast and would be awfully disappointed if the course was unplayable due to wear and tear. Can anyone who has been on Legend recently confirm whether even a small amount of refurb has been done?

Thanks in advance.

Alan

If your refering to the rafting trip in Ohos Rios it is really fun! However if you have teens keep close to them, the guides were trying to get my sons to "smoke". I made sure I was right next to one and my husband was with the other. Have Fun

Thanks, but the rafting is on our 14 night Med. cruise. I appreciate your reply and good wishes.:)

I was on the Legend back in March. The food was great but you may have a different menu as you have a different itinerary. We were Western Caribbean so I can't offer any info on the rafting trip you mentioned. The mini golf course is nothing to look forward to IMO. My kids thought it was boring because there weren't any boundries to keep your ball from going into other courses or "holes". They also said the course seemed to be made of a styrofoam type material beneath the grass so the ball was very uncontrollable. It kept rolling and rolling, etc. So, I can't say that the course is unplayable, however, I don't think its what my group of kids were used to playing on. The kids did enjoy the rock climbing wall and other activities offerred for their age group (2 boys 13, 2 boys 18, 1 girl 12, 3 girls 15, and 3 girls 16).. Overall I think the ship was in good condition for its age. Our room was clean and didn't show many signs of wear, the bedding may have been replaced recently. The carpet in the casino and a few other areas of the ship looked newer also. The staff was very friendly and the shows were good. Shawn is a great activities director (he should be a CD). Have a great time!

It's still very hard to answer you question about rafting. You are not clear about which port the rafting excursion in question is offend in. We did a white water rafting trip in Costa Rica that was the best excursion we have ever taken. (16 cruises so far)

Many thanks for the information. We're looking forward to our cruise-only been Radiance Class with RCI before, so the Legend will be a nice change I'm sure. Thanks again:)

I appreciate that the question was a bit vague. I think the rafting takes place on the Lisbon stop, but it may be Barcelona....what the heck! We'll find out when we get there! If it's half as good as your rafting trip in Costa Rica, I'm sure we'll be thrilled. Thanks for the reply:)

Sue, it really was THAT good.;) We went in the spring. Because of the time this tour takes, we booked through the ship which I highly recommend. We were the last people back aboard that day. It's a LONG tour. This is the website of the rafting co. that runs the excursion. http://www.riostropicales.com The ships use the tour that is the Florida section of the Reventazon river. Prepare to get wet and have a lot of fun. We are booked for a cruise in 07 to return and do it again. Two big thumbs up!!!!

Sue, I forgot to mention that there are photographers that kayak ahead of the rafts that take amazing photos of your journey down the river. They show a slideshow on monitors in the pavilion where they serve lunch after the rafting. We ordered a disc to be sent to our home, and it arrived promptly with over 200 fantastic photos of our trip. I think it only cost about 20 bucks. Great pics and a great value!
