blueladybug Posted June 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2006 Hi everyone, has anyone said in room 3014 on Vision? How was the room? Was the 2 port holes okay compared to a window? From the pictures it looks bigger than some other rooms on the same deck. Thanks
cyscopup Posted June 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2006 We were on the Vision of the Seas last week and stayed in room 3020 and it and the other forward cabins were bigger than the rest of the cabins on the deck. There was plenty of storage room, a sitting area and the windows were perfect. We had no problems with size of the windows, much better than just a porthole. blueladybug Posted June 7, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted June 7, 2006 Thanks so much, Cyscopup. My sister lives in Queen Creek. Small world. Any suggestions on excursions in Alaska?
cyscopup Posted June 8, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2006 The 3 excursions we did were: In Juneau- the Wildlife photo safari. It was great, we got to tour and hike at Mendenhall Glacier and then spent approx. three hours watching whales. We got to see 2 breeches!!! In Skagway we took the White Pass Train and Yukon tour offered through RCCL. The tour started by motorcoach and went to Carcross and Emerald Lake. Then went back to Skagway on the train. On this trip we saw Bald Eagles, Bears and some of the most amazing views we have ever seen. In Icy Straits we did the early morning whale watching, simply incredible!!! Saw 4 more breeches and several eagles. Then be sure to go to the "Office Bar" on the way into town, the place is kind of undistinguihable on the inside but the local clientele is very friendly and the Chowder is awesome. BTW- The Office Bar was just voted the top bar in the U.S. according to Esquire magazine. If you have any other questions let us know, we will gladly try to answer them. dirtgirl Posted June 8, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2006 I was in 3016 (how I remember my room number I have no idea), and the room was just fine, with a large window.
cyscopup Posted June 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted June 9, 2006 Blueladybug- Yes our tour included a stop in Carcross, and Emerald Lake. I would definitely do the tour again in a heartbeat, it is definitely worth the money. We, however, did not do the gold panning but it was available to us. We spent more of our time there with the sled dogs and the puppies. As for the shopping, we were looking for particular items that we collect whenever traveling and found exactly what we were looking for. We also picked up a terrific Ulu knife with cutting bowl for about $30, the same one was about $45+ in each of the ports. When do you leave for your cruise? If you have a choice try to avoid all of "chain stores" and look into the local stores, you will find many things that are made in Alaska and we thought were less expensive. cyscopup Posted June 9, 2006 #9 Share Posted June 9, 2006 Try to be out on deck when leaving Icy Strait and you will probably get a good show from the whales. We had sightings that evening and we some sightings on the next day as well. Enjoy your trip!!!!!
