Mini-Suite E729 on Star

Anyone stayed in that cabin? Any concerns about noise from showlounge and/or promenade deck below? Anyone have a suggestion for the "ideal" cabin on the Star? Thanks for the help!

We sailed for 25 days on the Star Princess in cabin E728. (same cabin, opposite side of the ship). Also sailed in E729 on the Grand Princess for 7 days.

The plus to this mini suite is that you have a bit more balcony space then the others and actually only a neighbor on one side.

 

The drawbacks are: Although the balcony is larger, if there is much wind, since only one side is protected, it makes it almost impossible to use as the wind seems to whip around the back of the ship and really can make it bad out there.

Yes, there is some bleed through noise each evening from the lounge below, but it wasn't all that bad.

And last but not least, it is a LONGGGGGGGGGGGg way from almost everything to your cabin.

Opps, forgot one thing. If the seas get rough, you really can rock and roll back there. Since we were sailing from LA to Sydney, we did hit some high seas and ended up spending the day with friends as nobody would come back to our cabin because it was rocking so badly back there. LOL

We sailed two cabins down (E725) on the Star on a 10-day over the holidays in the Southern Caribbean.

 

We never heard a sound from below from the lounge, and didn't even realize the promenade deck was below us. Its a great location, especially given the covered balcony (we love the sun, but love even more the privacy of the covered Emerald minis).

 

With regard to motion, I don't think you can do much better than where you're at -- the low deck level ( E vs the lido, B, C, and D) I think is much more important than fore/aft/middle. We felt very little sway on our voyage.

 

With regard to convenience relative to the rest of the ship, we thought it was great. You're very near the back stairwell, only one floor from Promenade, and frankly I like the exercise of going back and forth (fore/aft) to get to where we need to be. Need to do something to walk off those great meals. And since its near the aft, its very quiet in the hallways.

 

We liked it so much we've booked an Emerald mini in the same area for our August cruise in the Med.

Hi, it is great to hear from someone who has stayed very near to the cabin we have booked. We are new to cruising and we have cabin E723 so it must be very similar to the one you stayed in!

 

Like you, we will enjoy the covered balcony very much and that is why we booked on the Emerald deck. Do you recall, I know the balcony is quite small, but it has a small table and 2 little chairs right? Is it big enough to have the Ultimate Balcony Dinner?

 

The mini-suites do look a little roomier as far as the cabin part goes.
