queenb2850 Posted June 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2006 I have found in the past that there has been sexual molestation of children on cruise ships. Now when I go on the board, I am not able to find this link and my daughter has some concerns. Can anyone direct me regarding this issue. Fergus Posted June 10, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2006 If you're asking because you are booked on a cruise and taking your child, the only advice you really need is just to use common sense and take every precaution you would normally take with your child. Child molestation can happen anywhere. While many parents believe that it's safe for children as young as 8 or 9 to have the run of the ship (they can't get off, right??) that's simply not very smart. You encounter the same risks as at any vacation destination.
seamama1 Posted June 10, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2006 Fergus is absolutely right! Don't let your young children run all over the place. Keep them with you or in Camp Carnival, where someone can keep an eye on them. There are no more predators on a cruise than you would find elsewhere. Do the same thing you would normally do as a parent and don't worry about it.:)
silverwolf Posted June 10, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2006 Very good advice indeed. It amazes me that so many people just don't think about the basics of personal safety. A ship is no different that anywhere else. Predators are everywhere, even on a cruise ship. You may be on vacation, but criminals are not!
