ESLO Posted June 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2006 Can anyone who was on board the QM2 this am(6/8/06) explain what happened with the ship going to the wrong port-saw the QM2 @ 5:15am sailing down river from uptown Manhattan back towards Red Hook-this was all caught on Hudson River Web Cam while watching the Crown Princess leaveRed Hook. Dear dsparku, The Crown Princess left her berth in Redhook to position herself in the Narrows outside the Verrazano Narrows Bridge to allow the QM2 to dock this morning. We live by the bridge and have been watching her all day. At 5:45PM the Crown Princess turned around in the Narrows and headed back into NY Harbor after passing under the VZ Bridge. At about midpoint of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn the both passing each other with ceremonial Horns Blowing, the traditional 3 Long Blasts, that could be heard throughtout the harbor. Then the Crown Princess proceeded to take her place in Redhook and we watched the QM2 headed out of the Narrows after passing the VZ out to sea for her transatlantic crossing till she returns to NYC on 7/3/06. Hope this helps......
castlewood Posted June 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2006 I was on the westbound QM2 that arrived back in NY on June 4. That same day, the QM2 sailed off on a cruise to the Bahamas chartered by Merrill Lynch. One of our waiters told us that when the Merrill Lynch cruise returned to NY from the Bahamas, the ship was going to do a run up the Hudson to see the Manhattan skyline before ending the cruise at Red Hook.
