axd0424 Posted June 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2006 We were on the Victory the week of May 7th. We had to stop near Cancun for a passenger emergency. The Mexican Navy had to come out and get him. Just wondering if anyone else was on the ship and if they knew what happened. Everyone felt so bad. CruisinMenika Posted June 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2006 I was on the same sailing. Never did hear what happened. Also wandering if anyone had any info.
KenMo Posted June 13, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 13, 2006 I was also on this sailing. Must have been Monday night....we were out on our balcony and saw land and city lights. I wondered what we were doing so close to land. Didn't think too much about it. The next morning the Capt. announced why we'd be delayed getting to Costa Maya. In Costa Maya, a man in our group suffered smoke inhalation on a fishing boat that caught fire out in the ocean. (Just a side note: There were no life jackets, fire extinguishers.....no safety equipment at all. So FYI: don't charter fishing boats from Tequila Beach!) Anyway....he was taken back to the ship and required lots of oxygen for the remainder of the day and possibly through the night. I spoke to his wife and she said due to the medical emergency the night before, the medical staff was worried about having enough oxygen for the rest of the cruise. If there were to be another emergency, there would not be enough oxygen. So, Victory borrowed O2 from another Carnival ship while we were in Grand Cayman. So.....I don't know exactly what the emergency was, but it did require O2. A heart attack maybe???? I really don't know for sure.
