Kids in bars

Just wondering if the children are limited to any of the areas besides for the casinos and the solarium. If we wanted to have a drink before dinner in one of the bars/pubs would we would be able to sit there with my daughter.[she is six] We wouldn't be bringing her in to spend a night out but for a relaxing cocktaiul in the early evening? Any info would be great!

I can only tell you my experience as a child on a cruise ship. I am 26 and dating but don't have any children yet to speak of. Also I really only sailed one cruise line (HAL) for most of my childhood. I can remember when I was younger that I would be allowed into the bar area by myself or with my parents during the day and night, However they are much mor strict during the night. Sometime I would be able to sit at the bar with my parents during the day when it was not busy but once the night rolled around my parents and I would have to sit away from the bar. I see your child is 6 (six) so at this point it is not a worry. As I got older my parents allowed me to roam the ship buy myself, Also I am not the kids that run amock on the ship. I would go to the lounge area and bar areas and they would usually ask me to sit away from the bar, however they would still serve me my soft drinks. Usually they are kid friendly. I know that there are some lounges on cruise ships that are adult only and at these I know your daughter would not be allowed to go into even with you. I hope this helped. On Voyager of the Seas in February, it was not unusual to see some children in the Champagne Bar with their parents before or after dinner. The Champagne Bar is a pretty low key place and there were a lot of "regulars" durimg the week. There were several families with younger children who would sit at one of the tables, have a drink, and a chat before dinner.

On RCCL, kids are allowed in most of the bars. If they aren't allowed anywhere, the compass will state it or there will be a sign outside that particular space. There are a few late night shows and games that are adults only.

There are not many places on the ships kids can't go. The only places they are strict are the casino, and the disco at night, but you might choose not bring them into any lounge or bar that is full of smokers. (Many are). The more kid friendly bars are usually along the outer promanade or the atrium/lobby bar.

On Carnival the only places I remember being off limits to children were the casino, the disco after 11 pm and the adult comedy shows. They were clearly marked in the Capers. Other than that kids were allowed. In reality, the whole ship is a bar. Just about everywhere you go drinks are served.

We cruised on the Disney Wonder in December and DD8 and DS5 always accompanied us to one of the lounges for a pre-dinner drink, with no problems. I think it is different after 9pm (or some time around there), but our kids were always eager to go to kids' club after dinner anyway.

I think the main thing is to ensure they are well-behaved and not disturbing anyone, being overly loud, running, etc.
