what about sharks while snorkeling?

When I snorkeled off of Key West, I saw no sharks but did see numerous barracuda. I was told if I saw a barracuda, not to swim towards it, just to go the opposite direction. You don't want to challenge it or threaten it in any way, they can be territorial. Also, take off ALL jewelry and shiny objects before snorkelling - the barracudas could mistake it for a fish and attack you. Aside from being nervous about not pissing off the barracuda, we had a great trip ! We even saw a HUGE manta ray glide right below us as we prepared to get back on the boat. That was the highlight of that snorkel trip !!
