Dropping off luggage in London?

We are on the 11 August westbound QM2 cruise. We will have been in Europe for several days already and will be coming from Edinburgh early that morning.

 

Is there a convenient place we can hand over our luggage to Cunard (LHR? LCY? some downtown office?) so we can spend a few hours sightseeing London before taking a train for Southampton?

Not sure about Cunard but there was a very good "left luggage" desk at Waterloo Station (and remember Waterloo is very central, walking distance to Trafalgar Sq, with good underground and taxi connections). I've used it several times. Check it's still going (it was a year ago). Secure and handy for when you board your train for Southampton.

The Left Luggage at Waterloo was still in operation in April/May when we were visiting London. Day rates are 5 pounds for 2-3 large suitcases if memory serves correct. The long-term places want a 5-2 pounds per day per piece. We had 3 pieces that we wanted stored for 5 weeks while we toured the continent - we concluded that it would be cheaper to rent them a Studio apartment via Craigslist. Luckily, we found a friend of a friend who was willing to store them in his laundry room for free. We gave him our remaining 80 pounds for his trouble.
