m & b cruising Posted June 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2006 My Husband & I are travelling on the Constellation in Aug this year. My Husband (Mid 30's) is not one who usually wears Jackets, Suits etc. Although I have talked him into wearing a Tux on the Formal nights, its the Semi Formal nights I am now concerned about. He has purchased some very smart shirts & trousers, which he seems to be looking forward to wearing, (it's not been easy!!) But wouldn't feel comfortable wearing a Jacket to eat. Do men have to wear a Jacket? Can anyone clarify this for us please. I don't feel that he will look at least bit untidy, very smart actually, but I'm now worrying about the Jacket saga. Any comments would be gratefully appreciated.:)

Spend a few weeks on this board and you notice that the vast majority of folks consider it being overdessed to wear a jacket on informal nights. So have a wonderful cruise. debbie43 Posted June 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2006 My husband and I sailed last September on Rhapsody of the Seas along with two other couples. The guys never wear jackets, but they did for formal night. On smart casual night they wore the same suits, but with black or brown crew neck t-shirts with their jackets (something that went with the suit - no pocket on the front). It was a very smart looking, yet very comfortable mode of dress for them. Just a thought. Rule No. 1 - Never forget you are on vacation!!
