I had an experience back then in a hotel where I grabed the remote control for the tv and I found something slimy.... any comments or questions? afranco21@aol.com by the way, I just booked on the Victory for 4/10/05.. any one going?? hstrybuf Posted July 1, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2004 I doubt that you can say the rooms are surgically clean. Most times they are as clean as anywhere else and sometimes a lot better. Only on my last cruise did I notice that the desk area still had sticky rings on it from the previous occupant's drinks. I wiped them up myself. If you are concerned, try packing Clorox wipes. babywewe Posted July 1, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2004 i know a lot of people who bring lysole with them on trips... this way then can disinfect there rooms.... not a bad idea... you can get travel sized ones ...and then you have something for when someone does stinky in the cabin ;)
jeepgirl30 Posted July 1, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 1, 2004 Well we were just on the Sensation and ah well no. We found abc gum stuck to the side of the dresser by our bed. The floor needed vacumed. It wasn't any worse than some hotels but it could have been better. We were on the Imagination last year and I was impressed with how clean our cabin was then. I'd take clorox wipes like a previous poster suggested.
CruisingGirl Posted July 1, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 1, 2004 I just returned from the Fascination and the rooms were very clean even the bathroom.
Cotton Posted July 1, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 1, 2004 About like hotel rooms. So, NO, not surgically clean by any means. However, I've never entered my cabin and thought it needed vacuuming or dusting. I'm not a fanatic, but I DO take a small can of Lysol on every cruise. Just a quick spray on surfaces, carpet, bathroom, and I'm fine. Oh, and I also spray the pillows.
Tika Posted July 1, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 1, 2004 We just returned from a Miracle Cruise and our stateroom on embarkation was spotless, spanking clean!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought maybe because the ship is so new but everyday our steward left our stateroom immaculate. It was such a treat to get back to our stateroom and find everything so tidy and clean. I always pack a can of Lysol and spray the carpet, bedspread and bathroom etc. but this time I felt it was almost unnecessary. The "whole" ship is kept so clean. Restrooms always spotless with plenty of soaps and clean counters etc. etc. Dining & deck areas, lounges etc. always spotless& sanitarythroughtte whole ship! Another thing I'll mention here is the ventilation system...........staterooms, bathrooms, public rooms etc. is fabulous. Bathroom doesn't steam up with a shower!!!!!!!Smokingiswed in the casino but you really don't smell or see the smoke billowing everywhere like in some casinos. That was suppose to be smoking is allowed in the casino. Having trouble here typing and the backspace thingie. Anyway the Carnival Miracle cruise was great and it was extra special becausef the way they keep her so beautifully polished and clean.

LSUtraveler Posted July 1, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 1, 2004 I think that what needs to be remembered is that the cleaning begins while passengers are disembarking and about the same time as new passengers are embarking. So they are going like crazy to clean rooms and if someone is slow getting out of a room it just slows the process and you could get a room that might not be absolutely clean. Like others have said, bring some sanitary wipes and or disinfectant. We do just for peace of mind (what little is left). But I've never found our rooms to be anything but clean on Carnival.:o

INCHARGE Posted July 1, 2004 #12 Share Posted July 1, 2004 I posted an appropriate answer to the op question, and it is now gone. ??? I stated that I bring Lysol spray with me. Is there a reason this is not allowed? Can we not use brand names?
mirrajay Posted July 1, 2004 #13 Share Posted July 1, 2004 There is a site I came across that gives you the inspection results for all ships... The Victory scored a 99 out of 100. Not sure what exactly is included in the inspection, but here is the site: http://www2.cdc.gov/nceh/vsp/vspmain.asp
DreadPirateRobert Posted July 1, 2004 #14 Share Posted July 1, 2004 Well, the rooms on every cruise I've taken are sure kept a lot cleaner than we keep our house. I don't know if you dust, wipe and vaccum everything every day, we sure don't.
GoinCruisin Posted July 1, 2004 #15 Share Posted July 1, 2004 Surgically clean? I don't know about you, but I'm leaving the scalpel at home and plan to enjoy my cruise... I just HATE performing surgery when I am trying to have a good time... hard to manage my foo-foo drink and those pesky surgical tools at the same time...
