Hi Dame D. The airport is around 15 mins cab journey to the waterfront or town area. If you want a really great hotel, the De Vere is closest. It's classed as 5*, service and food are excellent and there's sports amenities. Plus your TA should be able to arrange a discount rate as a Cunard passenger.

If you want something marginally less expensive, the Hilton is also used by Cunard and provides transport to the ship on day of departure. It's a little way out of town, so isolated if you want to do something in the evening.

Other than that, I've stayed at the Marriott when on a business trip. That was OK and relatively near. You should be able to check any of the hotels on their website. Hope this helps.:)

Hello,

If you're looking for a "budget" hotel in SOuthampton, why not try the "Dolphin" or the "Star". Both are located into the old town, in "High Street", which is close to the harbour and the maritime museum. We stayed at the "Dolphin" last year in June, two nights and it was good value for money.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn for several days prior to our WB TA on April 23rd. The hotel was nothing to speak of but we had a "city view" on a high floor. This allowed us to see the QM2 arrive early in the AM on Friday and depart Friday evening for a weekend charter. We also saw the QM2 return and QE2 on cruise to her dock after her world tour on Sunday morning. Not to mention P&O ships (Arcadia and Oceana, I think), Saga Rose and Saga Ruby. All of this was fantastic!
