Norwegian Jewel Villefranche/Nice port call info

Hi all:

Taking the Norwegian Jewel Med cruise soon. Would like to know exactly where the ship docks at Villefranche/Nice. In particular, I want to walk from the ship to the downtown of Nice. What is the distance? All info appreciated.

cruise ships do not dock at nice; they anchor at villefranche and tender passengers ashore. villefranche is a charming seacoast town in itself. you can not walk to nice, but there is a train station close to where you get off the tender with frequent service to nice and to monaco. suggest you go to europeportreviews.com and look under villefranche. lots of pictures and info on what to do and how to get where:)

My wife and I have actually walked from Nice to Villefranche but it is 6 miles. You can take the train but it is about a mile to the train station from the dock where you get off the tender.

 

There is a very good bus service from the centre of town to bot Nice and Monaco. It is possible to see them both even though Jewel sails at 3 pm.

Shortest way to the bus stops is to exit the terminal form the ship on the right hand side and cross the road, take the steps on the left and turn right at the top. Walk up the road until you reach a road on the left with steps at the end. Walk up this road and steps and again turn right. This brings you out at a crossroads and the bus stop for Monaco is on your left and the bus stop for Nice is across the road and also to the left.

In Nice get off the bus at Gare Routiere (the bus station) and in Monaco get off at the first stop after the harbour. This leaves you very close to Casino Square and you can see across the bay to the Palace. The sights of Monaco are easily walkable.
