jakenashleysmom Posted July 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2006 I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to whether men should wear tuxedos on Century for a 5 night sailing? It seems that on other cruise lines, a dark suit was more appropriate on the shorter sailings, and from the postings I'm reading maybe Celebrity is a bit more up-scale? We always look forward to dressing up for formal night, and wonder if the old tux should come out of moth balls?! If anyone has a ratio of tuxes vs. suits, that would be helpful as well! thank you
bububr Posted July 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2006 We always bring along either our dinner jackets or our tuxes for 3,4, and 5 night cruises. Even last year on the Century 2 nighter to CocoCay there was a number of gents in tuxes and some in suits....the dress code for both days was CASUAL...so we felt under dressed with only navy blazers and open collar shirts. You will see a big mix, the style is being forced over to dark suits (BTW a tux IS just a dark suit), or less. Its a shame. We dress according to the posted dress codes...It makes the cruise more fun and the experience more memorable. We even bought NEW tuxes this year, a little bit of a different style. but still very traditional. Dave:eek:
caviargal Posted July 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2006 We have five cabins booked on Century 11/23, a 4 nighter. Most of the men in our party own tuxes and will be bringing them aboard. We always look forward to formal night and on X it is still quite an elegant affair :).
