Airline bumping know your rights & responsibilities

With all the talk about airlines bumping passengers on this site, I got a little concerned. I found good information on the website independenttraveler dot com/resources. Look for the article on bumping. Clearly it's not Oceania's responsibility to find alternatives should one of its passengers gets bumped. There are certain responsibilities for the passengers - like getting to the check in counter sufficiently ahead of time. Standing in the check-in line does not constitute checking in on time. I found this article sufficiently informative to print it off and put it with my tickets should a situation arise. Apparently some people prefer to be bumped in order to obtain all the perks that fall out of that.
