Hawaii697 Posted July 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2006 Can anyone tell me where is the best place to get conch Fritters while visiting Nassau? I absolutely love them but unfortunately can't get them in the DC area. Thanks!
pampaul Posted July 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2006 Just bumping 'cause I'd like to know too. I've never had them before. Can you tell me what they taste like? Or conch salad, or anything with conch in it.
nanfromatlanta Posted July 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2006 My favorite place is a small restaurant across the street from the British Colonial hotel. It is called 'Conch Fritters'. You must also try the conch chowder and the conch salad. I just can't get enough of that stuff. The portions are also large enough to share. Your best bet for authentic Conch Fritters is a trip to the Fish Fry at Arawak Cay. Most all of the local restaurants serve Conch Fritters, Conch Salad and/or Cracked Conch. It's a real treat. MTcruiser Posted July 8, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2006 when you get off your ship you'll have to walk through a small indoor market. There was a stand in the back that served excellent conch fritters.
Hawaii697 Posted July 10, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Thanks for the responses. Pampaul conch fritters are almost like fried claims but the meat is thicker. Conch salad is like a cold soup type dish. The salad is good but the fritters are better.
wvanfos Posted July 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2006 We had some good ones several years ago at a Greek restaurant right on the "main" street. It was upstairs from a shop and we were able to sit on the balcony and watch all the going ons on the street. Does anyone know the name of this restaurant and if it is still open?
