spring break 2007

A few people from work are thinking about going on a cruise together for Spring Break either 2007 or 08 so I have a few questions. We have been on RCCL and NCL if we book on those do we get a discount for all rooms for being returnees? If someone in the group is over 55 does everyone get a discount if we book in their name? How does all this work for a group of cabins? Would there be much of a price difference if we go in 08 versus 07? Thanks for all the help.

Can't tell you about NCL, can tell you about RCCL. If all of you have cruised RCCL before, and have signed up for the Crown & Anchor Society, there are some perks. Depending on how many times previously you've cruised, you might get a discount for booking. On the C&A site, they will post coupons for different sailings, the value will depend on your C&A level. Once you get onboard ship, you get coupons to use onboard ship, again the value depends on your C&A level. RCCL does have a 55 and up discount, but they don't offer it on every sailing. It is only applicable to staterooms that have somebody over the age of 55. RCCL also runs residency specials occasionally based on where you live.

I can't tell you which one will be cheaper, 2007 or 2008, but with RCCL there are advantages to booking really early. If the price goes up after you've booked, you are price protected. If the price goes down after booking, RCCL will usually honor the price drop (unless the price drop is for new bookings only) even after final payment is due.

What I can tell you is you should probably talk to a TA and see what kind of pricing you can get for the itineraries you want.

For both lines, you will probably get a better rate if you book it as a group. Both cruise lines give group discounts and then they give so many points for your choice of amenities, ie, ship board credit, bottle of wine, cocktail party, ect....In addition, both lines will give you a T/C credit. This means for every person booked (passenger 1 and 2 only in a cabin only count) one person goes free, excluding taxes, NCFs and port charges. The ratio is usually 1:15, 16th person goes free. Like I said if you have triples or quad, the 3rd or 4th passenger does not count in the ratio....
