Price Drop Question

Recommended Posts

I keep reading on these boards that if the price drops after you have a confirmed reservation, and before final payment, that Celebrity will honour the difference.Could anyone tells me if this applies to the UK or is this just for Americans? Here in the UK once the deposit is paid if you were to cancel you do not get a refund whereas in America I understand your deposit is refunded.I can't understand why the different rules, can anyone explain.

I'm not sure how it works in UK, but our cruise dropped in price and I called to ask if we got the reduction. No problem whatsoever. RCI was very cordial, immediately dropped our rate, and asked if there was anything else. Further, they said to keep an eye out for further discounts on Crown & Anchor. We're Canadian, and they obliged us as they would Americans. Maybe I'm fortunate, but I've never experienced any problems with RCI customer services, and we're heading out on our 6th cruise.

This was the subject of discussion a few days ago, and I believe your assessment of the situation is correct. Nobody had any good reason for the difference in policy. My last thought on the matter was why would anyone ever cruise with a company that treated them with such onerous policies? Not very consumer friendly at all. :(

We'd booked our trip on the Mariner for August 6, 2006 through a travel agent starting on December 29, 2005. Below I've put how the prices differed over the months leading up to the cruise. Probably too much information, but it taught me the lesson to keep checking on prices after you book!!! It saved us a great deal of money!!!

12/28/05 - booked E2 for $1392.15 pp...$2784.30 total

3/3/06 - upgraded to E1 for $1422.15pp...$2844.30 total

3/6/06 - price dropped for E1 to $951.15pp...$1902.30 total

I couldn't believe we got an E1 AFT balcony for $1902.30 for TWO people...

My parents booked the same categories as we did, so just by my continual checking I saved us $900.00 just on our cabin alone!!! My mother was pleased, to say the least, that I saved her just as much!

Keep checking folks after you book...price seems to change daily.

3 weeks to go till the Mariner!!!:D

Yes! From my favorite one of them all. Bonus points if you can remember what Calvin's line is in the next frame!!! Ha ha...

I really don't know. I'm sure it was profound.:p

I could go through my 4 "books" of Calvin cartoons, but that may take awhile.

I seem to have left this message on the wrong board, but the same question applies to RCL.I have a cruise booked on Legend and also one with Celebrity,so have been busy keeping an eye on the prices of both cruises.

Good news for you, yes as TPKeller stated there are some oronous differences for International guests but luckily with the price drop it does apply to us from the UK as I have just last week got a reduction on the price we paid for our Transatlantic cruise on the Constellation next April, also have had a price drop reduction for cruise we have booked on the Navigator next year, so both RCI and Celebrity apply the price drop in the UK. If you have booked through a UK TA get in touch with them as they must contact RCI/Celebrity.

Thanks very much for responding,it is good to hear from another Brit that the lower prices will be honoured.Unfortunately the cruise in August on the Legend is virtually fully booked and if anything the prices have gone up,but I will still keep watching the prices. The other cruise to South America in January has remained the same but there is plenty of time for prices to fluctuate.

Have a great cruise in August anyway, not sure whether you have been on the Legend but if you haven't you will really enjoy it. The ship is one of the oldest in the fleet but had a refurb in 2005 and definately doesn't look her age and the staff and crew are really friendly and helpful. We sailed on her for the Transatlantic last October and doing the same again this year.
