Places to eat in Grand Cayman

Going to GC next week on Rhapsody. Don't want to waste time tendering back for lunch. Can anyone recommend a place to eat? (not a Hard Rock type place ) Something close to the dock would be ideal. Last time we were in GC we stopped at a little house with a porch and ate lobster, beans and rice on styrofoam plates. Chickens ran around our feet. WE LOVED IT! But that was 10 years ago. Any help would be great!

We were there in May and ate at Breezes (thanks to twinkletoes) which is right across the street from where you tender. Its on the second floor of a building. They had very good food, you can ask to sit on the balcony too. They have a website, if you search this forum for Breezes, you'll come across a thread with their website, it has a link to make reservations.

have fun!

Yep, Breezes & Cocounut Joe's were our favorites. workn2cruise, glad you enjoyed Breezes. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching everyone walk by. We love to people watch.

Breezes also has a bar menu which offers many items that are on the regular menu, but they don't have all the sides, or are a smaller portion. They also had a few different things that weren't on the regular menu. We had to ask for the bar menu. :)

Momof4boys...I'm a neighbor of yours...we live in Shawnee.

ballarinamom-I don't recall seeing a place like that, but it sure could still be there. There's also the Paradise Restaurant which is right to the right of the port. We didn't eat there, but they have an outside eating area which is right on the water.

We did eat at Rackham's Pub a few times. It's toward 7MB and not a long walk. It's right on the water and you'll have a great view of the ships. To get there...go to the left of town and walk about 5 minutes or so. It's just past the Waterfront Centre (it's a yellow building which is across the street and down a bit). When we were there, the front part was empty, and we thought Rackham's was closed, but it was the gift shop that was operated by Stingray Beer (I think) that was closed. You just walk down the paved driveway, and you'll see Rackham's. When we were there (this past Jan), they though the submarine people were going to take over the shop since they load there passengers in that area.

The chickens were a hoot! They were everywhere. We asked someone if they ate them, and they said they were too tough. They had to cook them in a pressure cooker, so they just let them run wild. :)

Hey Twinkletoes---it is hot today! I am thinking that GC on 7-6 was a LOT cooler!

Great to know about the Breezes Bar menu. Thanks.:)

Yep, it's mighty toasty today! I think it's supposed to rain this weekend...at least I hope it does.

I'll bet GC was a lot cooler...this is so hot! Just found out yesterday that we have to go to Miami later this week. I didn't think I wanted to go...I really don't like visiting Florida in the summer...but it's cooler there than it is here. How weird is that?

I think the bar menu had chicken fingers and little cheeseburgers...which were a hit with one of my kids.

Thanks everyone! Twinlktoes, I would like to hear a little more about Rackham's as we are going on the Submarine this trip. What kind of food did they have?

Rackham's has local food & some seafood (I just don't recall what type)...with sandwiches, salads, soups...things like that. One night, we just ordered a bunch of different appetizers. We've had conch soup, cheeseburgers, jerk chicken sandwiches, conch fritters, conch soup, coconut shrimp, salads of all sorts...and more, but I just can't remember everything. The menu was along the type that you would see at a bar and grill.

We actually liked the selection at Breezes over Rackham's, but we loved sitting next to the ocean near the ships at Rackham's.

I posted this earlier...can't believe I found it! :) I don't have the menu from Rackham's, but Breezes was listed.

I don't think this is the entire Breezes menu, but I could be wrong. This was from the delivery service book. Just remember these prices are Cayman. It's 20% more for US dollars. I don't remember for sure if they added the tip on the ticket or not, so you might double check your bill. We loved the food, and the atmosphere. The balcony is also a place to take great photos of the port area. This makes me hungry...and want to return to GC!!!!!

The bar menu isn't listed, but I remember they offered the following...

Coconut Shrimp (without the rice & peas, shoestring veggies and cornbread-it was $9.95, I believe. With the above items is on the regular menu).

Three small cheeseburgers (I think this came with fries.)

Crab cakes

Chicken Fingers

And a few other things, but I don't remember exactly. The bar menu had smaller portions or fewer side items on the menu. More sandwich/snack type things.
