tennisnow Posted July 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2006 i kept checking prices for our aug 6 cruise on sensation and also found a poofed thread that said the fare was being offered from you know that big retailer (friend of the wall and mart) and called our carnival guy and he said yes the fare had been reduced, might have been fl resident rate, anyhow since we had a cat 12 booked and there was no upgrade from that we were given $200.00 SHIP CREDIT. so all you wise people out there keep an eye out for some extra spending money on board or an upgrade. you know they wont come calling you to tell you so keep on top of it and good luck! happy cruising:D

Darcy03231 Posted July 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2006 I keep checking mine too but I always seem to book the cruises that go up in price, not down!
sportsterjohn Posted July 17, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2006 You are lucky. I caught my TA lying to me about price drops. Just got off the phone with her and CCL. The price for my sep cruise dropped and she told me that CCL would not allow price drops after final payment. CCL told me it's up to the TA. The TA is denying that it is their choice but I had 2 different people at CCL tell me that it is up to the TA. Remind me to use a different TA next time. tennisnow Posted July 17, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted July 17, 2006 sorry to hear they are giving you such a hard time. we booked through carvival so they are the horses mouth, i hate it when everyone tries to pass the buck. this is why we book straight through the cruiseline line and ask their policy up front and get a phone number to the person who we book through it helps to have some recourse. good luck:)

caribbean dreams Posted July 17, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2006 Keep checking, we received a total of $1450 off out 3 cabins we have booked and then after we payed final payment there was another price drop on our 2 inside cabins so now we have a $800 total onboard credit. A lot of TA's don't want to mess with price drops, especially after final payment because it cuts into their commission.
Leo Jay Posted July 18, 2006 #9 Share Posted July 18, 2006 I wonder, can the ship credit be used in the casino? Chris I would think so, at least on the slot machines, because they have the coinless gaming system which allows you to download credits into your slot machine using your S&S card... Sue L Posted July 18, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 18, 2006 I wonder, can the ship credit be used in the casino? Chris The ships credit is no different than cash and if you have any leftover at the end they refund the money.

caribbean dreams Posted July 18, 2006 #13 Share Posted July 18, 2006 How does everyone get these credits, I guess with using military discounts i wont be able to get a credit.if there are any hints you guys have please shoot me a message Yes you can, we used our Military discount and received the onboard credit when the price dropped. Keep checking with your TA or PVP they will be able to tell you if there has been a price drop or special promotion offer on your cruise.
SJEWER Posted July 18, 2006 #14 Share Posted July 18, 2006 I'm not thrilled that when I booked in January and was told I was getting an upgrade (2 levels) and the past guest discount to see that the price today is what I paid in January. So where did my discount go? Is CCL known to do this? So basically if someone books today they pay the same price as I did who supposedly got an upgrade and discount. That's just not right. Any thoughts?
