mermaid40 Posted July 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2006 Does anyone have any opinion or suggestions for a beach dive while in Roatan. We can't decide between Fantasy Island or CocoView. We are doing a tour with victor Bodden and want to stop for a beach dive with the family. Thanks!
jimw Posted July 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2006 I would vote for LOCO View, we have stayed there a number of times, and did a shore dive a couple of years ago while on a cruise. The distance to the reef is a much shorter swim from CocoView than it is from Fantasy Island. At CCV, one gears up where the gear is stored, walks about 75 feet to the water, wade out along a sand path to a platform about 50 feet offshore, fins and mask on, swim on out to the slope down to the wreck of the Prince Albert. Then one can go across the wreck to a wall, or back track toward CCV and go to the right on a slope to a wall. We had no problem arranging the dive by email directly with the resort, they picked us up at the pier.
mermaid40 Posted July 23, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted July 23, 2006 thanks Jimw! is there a place for our non-diver family members to sit and wait while we dive there?
jimw Posted July 24, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2006 Yes, several sunning platforms, a shaded gazebo over the water, the main building where the bar/dining is, etc.
