Why are there no port side cabins avialable on any of the major online travel sites? The available cabins are always flashing on the right side. I was looking at July 2007 SB Alaska. Thanks

If you want a specific cabin, then you need to call either RCCL directly or a TA. You will only see generally 5-7 available cabins on any online site at once, but there are usually a ton more available.

There is a commonly held belief that you should be on port side southbound, and starboard side northbound. There is more to see in total from that way of thinking. This usually causes the cabins to be booked accordingly, SB port cabins will go first, NB starboard are grabbed first!!

Southbound you will have the open ocean on starboard between the sections of the Inside Passage that the route follows. Often this is during the night and you really won't miss anything. Most other times you will have land on both sides of the ship. East or port will be mostly mainland, and west (starboard) will be islands such as the Queen Charlottes and Vancouver Island.

The scenery is great on both sides!!! Wildlife viewing can be almost equal on either side. Although sometimes you will see more whales or have more possibilities on the ocean side.
