Dive Nassau

We will be going to Nassau on the Carnival Glory. We will be in port from 10am-4pm. My 16 year old is a certified scuba diver and would like to dive in this port. This does not seem to be enough time to arrange a private excursion. My question, does anyone have ideas for private dive excursions or is better to go with the ships excursion in this port? Has anyone ever went on the ships excursion in Nassau and how did you like it? Thanks for your help!

I used the ship's excursion last cruise there on the RCL Sovereign of the Seas. It wasn't too bad as far as cattle operation goes. Could have been because the SOS isn't that large and it was only a three day cruise to Nassau and Coco Cay so we didn't have that many divers aboard. Here is a link to my review of the dive. (I did get my photos posted which you can see at the link in my signature.

Given the short time you will be in port, I would suggest signing up with the ship's excursion. Most private operators will have both an AM and PM dive but will leave about 8, arrive back at 12, leave at 1 and arrive back at 5. You couldn't make that schedule with your port times. Additionally, even if you could arrange a private dive, if something happened and your son didn't make it back to the ship in time. Would you also stay or leave your 16 year old alone? (I guess that's a dumb question because you would also stay and then both of you miss the ship.)
