Driving in Bermuda?

Hi,

 

We really want to visit Bermuda on the cheap (if that poss!!) Can we rent cars in Bermuda or do we have to rent a scooter as I know that Bermuda is famous for being expensive and 1 car per family policy. Like to travel at our own speed and really dont want to do any structed tours. Any suggetions?

Sorry, non-residents are NOT allowed to rent cars in Bermuda.

 

You pretty much are limited to busses, cabs, ferries, or scooters.

Remember that travel is opposite to what we are used to in the USA. To catch a bus, you will stand on the side of the road opposite to what we are used to. Interesting concept to get used to again. :rolleyes:

I have found that getting a bus/ferry pass was the best way to go. They don't call the scooters "honeymoon wreckers" for nothing.

Sadly, there have been a record # of deaths on the roads in Bermuda, mainly by scooters. On our last trip there were TWO ambulances awaiting the ship when it came into Boston.. people in wheel chairs, cruisers with broken arms and many with "road tan".. The "dirty" little secret in Bermuda is the number of serious injuries to people on scooters and although your wearing a helmet going into a palm tree isn't going to protect you.. I do enjoy going by bus and meeting locals and by the high speed ferries... Then again... you could make sure your travel insurance covers being on a scooter.. The Government of Bermuda wants stricter regulations for people renting scooters Good Luck
