So, I emailed the casino director...

.

In my case, I email them only a week prior to sailing. I have found that when I board and introduce myself, they seem to remember me.

In my "little" message, I tell them who I am, my cabin #, sailing date and tell them that the casino is a big part of my cruise and look forward to meeting them.

It seems to work all the time... Never had a bad time in the casino even when losing... :(

Has anyone had any perks on the Valor? :) We sail on the 6th ( 24 of us). We like to play in the casino and are opc members. This is the first time I have emailed the casino host. We got a quick response about if any points were left in our accounts. (And a pleasant surprise for one of us!):)

How much to tip....well, consider that if there are ten dealers working that day, for every ten dollars you tip, any given dealer gets one dollar of it. But everybody else who is tipping is also contributing at the same rate.

If I'm tipping what I consider to be a decent hourly wage, I think I'm doing just fine. So I tip maybe 15 bucks an hour in total.

Or more.

I also tip well if I do well. When I walked in with 25 bucks, sat down at the roulette table, and won steadily until I had 2700 bucks and cashed out at that point, I came back and dropped a 100 dollar tip on the table.

It was fair!

It's not too often when you see an experienced dealer break into a grin.:D

We sailed on the Conquest 7-23-06. Emailed the casino director and did get a reply, but only a hello and welcome, no perks, gifts, decorations, etc. That did not stop us, however, from enjoying our time in the casino.

This is new to me , never thought of contacting Casino Mgr or Host . It's been over 15 years since Cruising on Carnival, how/where do you sign up for OceanPlayers Club ?

You sign up on the ship, in the casino...

Sorry it took so long to respond.

I just wrote with my name, sail date and said hello and that I wanted to introduce myself in advance. I asked for any info they thought would be helpful and that's about all.

I'll let you all know what we got, if anything when we get back.

Thanks Navywife 06. I guess I need to wait a little since we don't sail untill Oct., but I definantly will drop a little line. Maybe we'll get a "gift"maybe not. It seems that if varies depending on the sailing. I wonder why.

I agree... just drop them a quick note... I did that for my July 10th Fascination sailing and Daniella emailed me back almost immediately. I

introduced myself once on-board and she was just as nice as she

could be.

I wonder if this is the same Daniella who used to be a BJ dealer on the Holiday and the Elation? I know she was trying to get on another ship this past January. If so, she is the nicest person and did remember me from our previous sailing.

I emailed the OPC (not the casino director) before my Conquest 7/23/06 cruise inquiring if I had previously joined or if I needed to do this. They asked about previous sailings etc... but could not find me. They told me they would put me on the list regardless... and they made very good on their word! I had Bon Voyage decorations, a fruit & cheese basket, a couple of nice keychains... definately a nice surprise!!!

Did they ask you for your cabin number? I'm wondering because they said they'd put me on the list regardless also but they didn't ask me for my cabin number.

I e-mailed the casino host on the Valor before our cruise last month and our cabin had the Bon Voyage decorations and a fruit basket. I can't remember the hosts name, but she was very friendly and even had a bottle of wine sent to our dining room table on the last night of the cruise.

From that point on each time she saw me in the casino she offered me comp drinks.

Does the Casino not offer complentary drinks like Vegas?

I've only been on Disney Cruises and those ships do not have a Casino.

I never even got the courtesy of a response:mad: and it was my 3rd Carnival Cruise in 2 years! maybe that means they know I'm cruising with ot without their response (and they'd be correct! :p )

here is a link to another thread on this subject, very informative

I'm assuming that the perk that some of you got are because you were members of the OP club. Is that assumption correct or has someone out there recieved a gift with out being a member?

I emailed the casino host on the Triumph (we are sailing on 8/26) and I got back a big fat NOTHING.

My wife and I are rated players at the casino near us here in Upstate NY.

Oh well, I will be on a cruise not a casino junket....LOL

Hi there,

I also emailed the OPC and received this wonderful email today which was a very quick response:

Thanks for contacting the Ocean Players Club!

We're glad to hear your sailing with us again, but more importantly that

this cruise will be your first OPC cruise! Please be sure to get you and

whomever is qualified in your family signed up and ready to enjoy all

the benefits we have to offer. As a courtesy I would like to extend a

nice Bon Voyage package to you and your family once on board. We hope

you have a wonderful cruise, and the best of luck as you enjoy your time

in our Casino!

I will let you all know what I receive when I get there...

Thanks for the advice

I got a polite response from the Miracle answering my question about the tournaments. He didn't say a word about coming to see him or any freebies. Perhaps after we sign up for the tournaments (which sound like a lot of fun) I'll find the guy and introduce ourselves and thank him personally for answering me. I'm certain he'll just smile and tell me I'm quite welcome.

This would be a great place to mention this:

The casino dealers get paid ten dollars a day by Carnival, and all the rest of their income is tips. Tips are pooled every day and divided evenly among the dealers who worked that day.

I found that the dealers in the casino on the ship I cruised on (Glory, June 3rd Western cruise) were extremely nice, very good, and it was good to get to know some of them a little. Meeting them and getting to know them a bit was about half the fun of being in the casino. I've kept in touch with a few of them since the cruise as the ship is home ported near where I live, and sometimes I'm at the right place at the right time during their few hours of "shore leave" on Saturdays during turnaround. I visit the

usual crew hangout, an internet cafe/restaurant. The food is good, too,

and it's as good a place as any for me to grab lunch, so why not?

I personally will always tip them well even if I'm not winning. You may wish to consider doing the same.

Chris

Thanks for the posts all - here is my recent conversation thread (although the website does say this treatment is for previous OPC members and is a standard service it appears). I did have good results though - for the Miracle on August 20th.

First Reply:

The OPC membership is for any type of casino player onboard, the

exception with tables is that we do not provide points towards cash

bonuses for table players. Slot players use their S&S cards to

accumulate points which they can cash out with our Debit Gaming systems.

With tables you will get yourself rated and of course will be eligible

for any perks based on level of play for future cruises. When you take

your cruise please contact the casino host or casino staff to enroll and

join the club. Membership is free to anyone over 18 years of age. Have a

good one!

My response:

Thank you for responding with lightning speed - I was surprised to see a response so quick. I will definitely sign up this year for the club. I guess my real question was whether I was allowed to claim membership from my cruise on the Carnival Legend on 9/10/03 with regards to "notifying the director of cruise arrival before the event" that the website speaks of. If so, every bit helps as this is my honeymoon. If not, no big deal and I still look forward to meeting the casino staff.

Their response:

No you would have actually had to sign up with the Casino host on board to be eligible to claim any perks for future cruises. As a courtesy if you can provide me with your current booking information including booking number, I will gladly place you on our guest list and do a little something special for your occasion. Although once on board your going to want to make sure we get your contact information confirmed in your own membership file. Hope to hear from you soon!
