twinkletoes4445 Posted August 1, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2006 I came across this today. It looks like Grand Cayman is in the process of building a dock that will allow four ships to dock. http://www.cdnn.info/news/travel/t060729.html
zydecocruiser Posted August 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2006 Not quite sure how the article can have a date of June 29 with a quote from July 26th? But here is basically the same... http://www.caymannetnews.com/cgi-script/csArticles/articles/000042/004262.htm Once upon a time, GC was only going to put a dock in if they could have a ship home ported there... Hmmm. Or maybe a ship will allow embarkation/disembarkation like the Destiny did with a few ports. Of course, it will be a few years before studies and construction could be completed. TennisLover Posted August 2, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2006 Any idea of a time line for this project? If they are just doing environmental assessments now, this could be a ways off....
twinkletoes4445 Posted August 2, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted August 2, 2006 It sounds like they are going to get this thing going pretty quickly. But I guess time will tell.

I didn't even catch the date thing...lol There was a time when they only allowed 6,000 or so cruise ship passengers a day (I have an old tourist book), however now they are saying they only allow 9,200 (or so), which is wrong. When they have 9 ships in port, there are more than 9,200 passengers, so I'm not sure how they come up with these numbers. I think if they are going to continue to allow that many ships to stop each day, they need to come up with a dock (for some of them).
