South America and Iguazu Falls Questions

We are thinking of taking the 12 day South America on the Golden with a pre-cruise excursion to Iguazu Falls.

 

Has anyone here taken it and is it worth it? Its quite a bit of extra money.

 

What are the flights like to and from Iguazu Falls? What type of plane and how long are the flights.

I just did a tour at Iguazu Falls out of Rio. It was well worth it - it is the most beautiful place. It would be ashamed to get that close and not take advantage. Regular jet service goes into Iguazu and the flight was about 1 hour 45 minutes.

We visited Iguazu Falls as part of a land tour about 7 years ago. I think that we flew on Varig. The Falls are amazing. Take the forest and boat tour and be prepared to get wet.:)

We also visited as part of a land vacation. We bought a 3 day package out of Buenos Aires. We flew on Southern Winds a regular jet and stayed 3 nights at the Sheraton right in the park overlooking the Argentine side of the falls.
