gsocruisers Posted August 10, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2006 I'm sure someone has stayed at the Hotel Galvez. Last time out we were at the Tremont but we're driving to Galveston this time so we'd like to stay at the Galvez. The Galvez still provides free parking to Tremont guests but I'm thinking why have to drive over to Galvez when I can walk out my door & take a shuttle to the pier Your comments on this hotel please would be appreciated
flossyal Posted August 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2006 My husband and I stayed one night prior to our cruise. Nice older Hotel-historic-very nice view of the gulf from our room. Food and service was good, but we ended up taking a taxi to the pier because the scheduled shuttle service was running delayed. Would stay there again. Hope that helps. cwestbrook Posted August 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2006 Very nice historic hotel. My daughter actually chose to have her wedding there two years ago. They had several buses running to the cruise terminal throughout the day for Princess, I think--maybe others. I didn't pay much attention.
DannyMac Posted August 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2006 The Galvez reminds me of the Menger in San Antonio, we always enjoy our stay at the Galvez. Historic hotel with connections to my family. My Grandfather helped build it, Grandpa and my Dad did the first renovation, my Dad and Uncle did the second renovation. Take a good look at all the cornice work, yep those men did it.
