Dzul Ha shore snorkeling or....?

Our party is pretty set on shore snorkeling at Dzul Ha based on other member recommendations.

Our initial plan was to head to paradise beach and take the catamaran to palancar and columbia reef, but later found out that only one tour operates per day at 12:30 (island). Our ship is set to depart (tendering) at 4:00 (ship), therefore dismissing this option. Pretty bummed out about this.

Any other boat tours that is over $40pp would prob be out of the question since we have all other ports book with excursions (budget)

Can anyone recommend a better location to snorkel from shore?

I am leaving in a few minutes ( as soon as the little lady gets dressed) for Cozumel and plan to do a two tank boat dive each morning then shore dive several spots to really check out the potential for a cruise ship day at the beach snorkeling or shore diving. Dzul Ha is on our list and we will post as soon as possible to let others know the conditions. I will check this thread while on the island so let me know if there are any other areas you want checked out.

I don't usually pay to much attention to the little stuff but this trip I am going to keep a good log just like in the early days ( my wife just walked by and cracked a hurtful joke about age and something about alzheimers - how did you spell that dear) .

PS - also I will check on a bunch of great restaurants just for you guys

.:D

Hey Earl! I really appreciate you reporting back on Dzul Ha for us. We went there in 2004 when we were on the Grand and really enjoyed it. Last year it was wiped out. Any info you get on the good and bad in Coz is great!

Just because our thread is huge doesn't mean we don't miss you over there!! Come back!

We loved Dzul Ha in July. We ended up spending three days (out of 8) snorkeling there. The staff is great, and you don't have to spend any money if you don't want to.

The beach is free, but I think it's customary to at least buy a couple of drinks if you're going to use their tables and chairs. We ended up buying more than a couple:)
