MsBonine Posted August 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2006 I'm planning a cruise to Tahiti on the Tahitian Princess next year. For those of you who have been on this ship, is there a benefit to being in a port or starboard cabin?
Toto2Kansas Posted August 16, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2006 That depends, which itineary are you looking at booking?
Druke I Posted August 16, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 16, 2006 We cruise some of those waters on her twin, Pacific Princess, 11-03, Papeete to Sydney, and it certainly did not make a bit of difference which side of the ship you were on for that trip. craven3 Posted August 16, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2006 We've been on the Cook Islands itinerary twice, and it didn't matter a bit which side you were on. Other than embarcatoin/disembarcation at Papeete, the only two port where you'll dock is Raiatea. You'll be at anchor in the bays at Bora Bora, Huahine, Moorea and Rarotonga. While at anchor, the ship turns around with the changing of the tides. In Papeete or Raiatea you'll either see some island sights or the sea; neither is bad. charlotte
MsBonine Posted August 16, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted August 16, 2006 Thanks so much for your input. We're planning the 10 day Cook Island itinerary in Aug. 07. I was looking at a starboard stateroom midship. I think I'm going to go ahead and book it.
beauty1492 Posted August 16, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 16, 2006 We were on April 16 sailing and there isn't a bad view from anywhere on the ship. we were midships starbar side. It was wonderful!
Toto2Kansas Posted August 16, 2006 #7 Share Posted August 16, 2006 When we sailed the TP we had a port side mini suite. I do know we missed a lot of scenery on the islands as we passed at many times because the starboard side faced them. We did the Cook Islands itinerary. Hope that helps. donna5 Posted August 17, 2006 #8 Share Posted August 17, 2006 toto We did one B2B on Port side and the cruising past islands was on starboard, but when we docked we always faced the dock/town. So for the Marquesa's we thought we'll take starboard and get to sit on our balcony for the cruising by the islands and guess what, the port side had that view. But in Raiatea would you believe we were facing the town/dock side. You can never have a plan, I guess.
Verde Posted August 18, 2006 #9 Share Posted August 18, 2006 We had a starboard side minisuite. It was wonderful. If you have a choice, pick the starboard side; however, the truth is that it doesn't matter where you are on the TP, it will be he voyage of a lifeime...until you return for your next Tahitian cruise. I promise - you will love it!
