Thanks to all for all the info here! I contacted our PVP today about the sale. We are sailing in 11 day on the Conquest. Nothing available but she is sending a bottle of Champange to our cabin. My question, we don't drink champange, can we take it to the dining room for a Merlot? We don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth but, don't want to waste the gift.

Your PVP may be able to change it -- he/she probably just chose champagne because s/he assumes it was a safe choice that most people would like. I don't think it would be rude to say, "We so appreciate the gesture, but we're not champagne drinkers, would it be possible to send us a merlot instead?" :) I might feel funny about saying that to a private TA making a nice gesture out of their own pocket/bottom line, but since it's a Carnival gesture, I think it's fine to request an alternate.

I had the honor of being 'picked' to go onstage for one of their icebreakers. They gave me a bottle of champange as a gift. They said we could take it to dinner and they would trade it in for a wine of equal value. You could probably do the same.
