Vicar Posted July 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2004 I have not been on the Navigator or the Explorer, but I can say that the Conquest is a beautiful ship, the food was terrific. Its a big ship and when we were on it last November it was a full sailing (3000 pax) but you never felt crowded. there was always a place to go to be alone if that is what you want to do. The crew and staff were great. The ports of call were beautiful All in all you will have a great time
JudyKa Posted July 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2004 Ditto, Vicar......we loved every minute of it! It is a beautiful large ship!
darjensil Posted July 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2004 This exact time last year we were sailing on the Conquest. There were 12 of us and we had a great time. We even missed some ports of call because of a hurricane BUT it still was a great time. No complaints at all from here- its all what you make of it!!!! Crichard Posted July 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2004 We just returned from 7 wonderful days on the Conquest. My husband, myself, 13 yr. old daughter and 10 year old son. We rated it our best vacation ever. We are going to AAA tomorrow to book for next year. Cathy
kkorman Posted July 13, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 13, 2004 While I enjoyed my trip on the Conquest, I thought the ship to be in the bottom 2 or 3 of my 22 or 23 cruises overall. My reasons are mostly personal preferences, but here they are: - THere were too many people. It was a holiday sailing, so it normally is not as bad, but there were 3500 on this tship. THere should not be more than 27-2800. I thought that the Destiny class were over-crowded, and all they did her was add another floor of gues rooms. - THe design of the ship is just not good. No wrap around promenade deck. All the bars and casino an resaurants in one hallway on one floor just lead to major congestion of people. - Service has never really been strong on Carnival, but I had a bar server wake me up while sleeping in the sun to ask if I wanted a drink. - In room announcement for Bingo at 7:30 in the morning. That is ridiculous. I think I counted 13 announcements one day just for the selling of things onboard. This is a petty complaint, but I can read the Caper. - THe itinerary is ordinary, if not a little boring. MoBay is just as bad, if not worse than Ocho Rios. While the ship does not compare with the VOyager class ships of RCI, the food did. We had an overall good dining experience on board and met a very nice family. nancy M. Posted July 13, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 13, 2004 We just returned also and had a great time on the Conquest. This was our first cruise so I don't have anything to compare it to but I am booked for another cruise on the same class ship for next year. As for the announcement being heard in the room....They must have fixed that problem because we always had to open the door or go out on our balcony (we were directly under the lido deck) to hear any of the announcements. TomD Posted July 13, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 13, 2004 I'd say for all racticality, they are an equal. The difference will be in what you determine before you get on board. Try not to judge the ship until you are on it.
