sarze Posted August 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2006 Hi everyone, was just wondering if anyone who has been on the Star has noticed whether the onboard computers have USB ports? Am just wondering whether we will be able to transfer our photos from digital camera to a USB stick if the memory card gets full as have heard it is pretty expensive to get them put onto cd on the ship. Thanks :)
karmac Posted August 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2006 On the Sun it was $10 for them to put the pics onto a disc. Karen
aussiedisneyfan Posted August 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2006 You can't access the cpu of the computer. Only keyboard and screen. I am pretty sure that you can get the photo people to burn them to disc for you like Karmac said you can on the Sun.
Star-Man Posted August 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2006 it would make your carry on luggage rather heavy, but if you have a laptop then take that. its what im planning to do when i go again, just to keep the camera memory cards empty. firstimercruiser Posted August 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 22, 2006 The star also has wireless internet, available in the internet cafe and in the main lobby. Internet connection is charged at 25c a minute. All you have to do to connect is swipe your cruise card and it just bills you for the time you use. And no, you can't access the cpu. sarze Posted August 22, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted August 22, 2006 Thanks for the replies everyone :) $10 isn't bad, i had been told it was $25 which i though sounded a bit much. Less than 100 days to go!!!
Star-Man Posted August 22, 2006 #7 Share Posted August 22, 2006 One thing though, the internet that is available on board is incredibly slow. by the way sarze, your cruise is the one right before mine, hope you leave the ship nice and tidy for me :D. less than 100 days untill you leave and just over 100 for me. starting to get excited again. It's not slow all the time, in fact, tonight, it's pretty quick. Just depends on the time of day you are on and how much traffic is on the satellite. Trevor. aussiedisneyfan Posted August 22, 2006 #9 Share Posted August 22, 2006 Trevor, you must be racking up your internet bill. :) So they have wireless now? When I was on there in Jan it wasn't set up. I might take the laptop then.

I might take the laptop then. I think they had wireless set up when we were on Star in March. It's not hard to run up the internet bill - particularly when the satelite connection is slow.
