Do they have Texas hold em in Carnival casinos?

I do not know for sure - but my gut says no, as the casino can not really make money on this. The dealer just deals cards, does not play them. There is no way for the "house" to win - unlike blackjack.

Carnival doesn't have it on any ship I have been on. But the Casino could make money on it, most casinos that have poker tables usually keep between 2-5% of each pot, and also keep a portion of your buy in. And of course it wouldn't be the no limit championship variety you see on tv.

In our "Welcome Aboard" brochure that came with our cruise docs they list the gaming available in the casino. The only thing close to "poker" that they mention is "Caribbean Stud Poker".

Texas hold 'em...

Blackjack...

Caribbean Stud Poker...

mmm mmmm mmmmmmmmmm

(sigh)

Where ya live?? Might be worth the drive...

Would love to start a regular poker game at my house !!! Just don't know enough people who would play.

I was thinking the SAME thing...

I would imagine that unless they were having a huge poker tourney, the amount of space it would take up in the casino wouldnt be worth the time and effort. Land based casino's can afford to have a poker room.

I would suggest in your roll call asking if there are any poker players...then you can play as much as you want without the ship getting a cut. Im sure you would also find people at the blackjack or craps tables that might be interested in playing poker.

Just a thought.

I am almost as addicted to Texas Hold'em as I am cruise critic boards. A group of us play Hold'em several times a month. We play $20 and $50 buy ins.It gets interesting when there are 6 or 7 of us. My DH thinks I have a problem:D . I really love it. He likes football, I like poker.

But, since no poker on board, I play my 2nd favorite, Blackjack.

Wouldn't it be interesting to set up a hold em tournament amoungst those traveling as a cruise critic "group". Or to get enough people on board on a sea day to enter a $20 or so buy in tounament. I bet if the cruise line saw the interest they would be on top os it in a hurry!!!!

My DH would be ecstatic. He goes to the tournaments occasionally in Atlantic City and Foxwoods and plays with his buddies once a month. He just asked me if the Legend (7/26) had poker tournaments. I told him no but now I think I might try and do a roll call.

Thanx for all the responses :) We are 30 miles north of Boston ...Is that too far to drive????????

You must be right near me, that's about my distance from Boston. I would love to get a Texas Hold'em game together, if we could find a few more people. I'm sure my husband would play.

Thank goodness they don't have it, I'd never see my husband!!! Every once in a while there will be a cruise with a Texas Hold Em theme though, I think the price includes buy in. I don't know where my husband find them, but he finds out info on them every so often. Not sure if it's Carnival either.
