Carnival Legend - NY - September

We have just booked a cruise on the Carnival Legend leaving out of NY on September 28. Since we have never gone out of NY any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Which airport should we fly into? Where is the port located?
Any comments would be helpful.

It really doesnt matter what airport you fly into - they are all fairly close to the terminal. I personally would avoid Newark b/c its further away and I just have a personal aversion to the airport, but some people actually recommend it. I have always used LGA when flying to NYC and never have problems. JFK would work as well, but from my experience, there tends to be more delays at that airport. I would just fly into whichever one you can get the cheapest airfare.
The cab fare from the airport should be about $35-40 max to just about anywhere in Manhattan inlcuding the terminal. The terminal is located on 12 Ave at about 55th Street. Basically its on the far west side midtown.
If you are flying in a day in advance (which I would recommend), pick a midtown hotel and you can get to the terminal easily in a cab the morning of your cruise.
